Utility Integration Analysis
Successful solar projects rely on seamless coordination with your local utility. Our team identifies when meter integrations or panel upgrades may be necessary, protecting you from costly surprises. We ensure maximum system performance, a smooth interconnection process, and timely Permission to Operate (PTO).
Understanding Net Energy Metering (NEM 3.0)
Net Energy Metering (NEM) is a billing arrangement that allows you to receive credits for the excess electricity your solar system generates. Under NEM 3.0, which took effect on April 15, 2023, surplus energy exported to the grid is now credited at the utility’s avoided cost rate. Additionally, all NEM customers are required to be on Time-of-Use (TOU) rate plans, which align costs with grid demand. Businesses approved under earlier NEM versions retain their original compensation structures for a grandfathered period.
Solar Billing Plan Aggregation (SBPA) for Commercial Operations
The Solar Billing Plan Aggregation (SBPA) replaces Net Energy Metering Aggregation (NEMA) as of February 14, 2024. SBPA allows commercial entities to aggregate multiple meters on contiguous or adjacent properties under a single renewable energy system, but with updated billing methodologies and compensation rates. The new plan modifies how exported energy is valued and how credits are applied across multiple meters, impacting the financial returns for businesses looking to optimize solar investments.Maximizing Your Return on Investment
By understanding these regulatory changes, you can still achieve significant energy cost savings by strategically designing your solar system. With Sunlight Energy’s expertise, you can navigate the complexities of NEM 3.0 and SBPA to ensure compliance, optimize financial benefits, and enhance long-term sustainability
When you choose Sunlight Energy, you gain a knowledgeable partner committed to optimizing your energy efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring a seamless utility integration process.
